Relief for Family Food Expenses: COVID-19

Met Council is offering relief — in the form of a credit at participating grocery stores — for families living in New York City who have lost income as a consequence of COVID-19.

The fine print:

  • If you have already received a 2020 Visa Food Card from Met Council, you are not eligible for this program.

  • You must be prepared to provide written proof of income reduction or job loss.

  • You must be referred by a social worker. Completion of this form doesn’t guarantee acceptance.

  • By participating in this program, your information will be shared with a Met Council case worker to ensure you are participating in other programs, including federal stimulus programs, for which you may be eligible.

  • Store credits will be offered only to participating grocery stores and must be used within 30 days of receipt.
